Department of mechanical and electrical engineering

The Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering focuses on teaching courses in the basics of technical education for the automotive industry. Members of this department teach the courses Materials Science, Engineering Production, Design, Machine Parts, CAD, Automotive Technology, Electrical Engineering and Automatic Control. Their aim is to give students basic competencies in the design, development and manufacture of cars. Teaching is complemented by regular excursions to the production and development at ŠKODA AUTO, a.s. Research activities of the department and its projects focus on engineering design and production, electrical engineering and automation applications.

Prof. Ing. Vojtěch Dynybyl, Ph. D.

Head of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department

Vojtěch Dynybyl graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, field of study automation and robotisation of technological processes. He later worked in the industry as an independent designer in the development department of an electrical engineering works. From 1991, he worked as an academic at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague. He successfully completed his doctoral studies at the same faculty in the field of Manufacturing Machines and Equipment (Ph.D.), followed by habilitation in the field of Design and Process Engineering (docent) and the appointment procedure to become professor in the same field (prof.). In terms of teaching and research, he focuses on design, machine parts and engineering production. He was the investigator researcher and co-researcher of many science and research projects of a basic, collaborative and contractual nature with industrial partners. He is an evaluator of the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, a member of the scientific boards of two universities, a member of study field councils of doctoral study programmes and a regular member of committees of final state exams at different technical faculties. He was a second reader of many dissertation and habilitation theses and a member of committees for habilitation and appointment procedures. He is a member of the editorial board of the MM Science journal and a member of the Czech Society for Automation. He is the author of many publications with responses in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. He has worked with ŠKODA AUTO University since 2019.

Ing. Josef Bradáč, Ph.D.

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department Member

Josef Bradáč graduated from the Technical Faculty of the Czech University of Life Sciences in Prague, majoring in Trade and Business with Technology (Ing.). He then completed his doctoral studies (Ph.D.) in Engineering Technology at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Liberec. He completed internships at the Welding Research Institute (Slovakia) and at the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria. He worked as a specialist in body welding development and welding line designer for ŠKODA AUTO. In terms of teaching and research, he focuses on engineering production and automotive technology. He is a member of the Czech Society for Quality, Czech Society for New Materials and Technology, Czech Society for Mechanics. He contributed to the summer school projects Global Management in Automotive Industry and Green Solutions for Business and Industry. He is a lecturer of specialised lifelong learning courses. He is a member of the Academic Council and Academic Senate of ŠKODA AUTO University. He is the author and co-author of professional articles listed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. He has worked with ŠKODA AUTO University since 2012.

doc. Ing. Jiří David, Ph.D.

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department Member

Jiří David graduated from the Faculty of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering at VŠB – Technical University in Ostrava, fields of study Automation and Computer Technology in Metallurgy (Ing.). He successfully completed his doctoral studies at the same faculty in the field of Automation of Technological Processes (Ph.D.), followed by habilitation in the field of Machine and Process Control (docent). In terms of teaching and research, he focuses on industrial automation, artificial intelligence methods and management of reliability and maintenance of industrial equipment and processes. He is a member of the Czech Society for Maintenance, where he successfully passed the course on being an internal auditor of maintenance management systems, and a member of the board of the Bohemian-Moravian Society for Automation, investigator or co-investigator of more than 20 R&D projects (supported e.g. by the Czech Science Foundation, Ministry of Industry and Trade or EU funds) and projects of contractual research (among others ČEZ a.s., ÚAM Brno). He is an evaluator of the National Accreditation Bureau. He is the author and co-author of 15 engineering works protected by copyright including two patents and more than 100 publications with more than 40 responses in the Web of Science database (H-index 5). He has worked for ŠKODA AUTO University since 2019.

Ing. František Starý

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department Member

František Starý graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague, field of study Manufacturing Machines and Equipment (Ing.). From 2008 to 2019 he worked there as an assistant professor at the Department of Designing and Machine Components. His teaching activities focus on production documentation and design of machine parts. He is the author and co-author of professional articles listed in the Web of Science and Scopus databases. He has worked with ŠKODA AUTO University since 2019.

Ing. Zdeněk Hejda, Ph.D.

Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Department Member

Zdeněk Hejda graduated from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the West Bohemia University in Pilsen, majoring in Design of Thermal Energy Equipment, and further studied for a doctoral degree in the field of Fluid Mechanics and Thermodynamics. He worked at research institutions and universities abroad (Academy of Sciences of Ukraine in Kyiv, German Center for Aviation and Cosmonautics in Göttingen, Germany, and Cranfield University, UK. ZH spent several years in England as well.

He has more than fifteen years of experience in industrial enterprises (Honeywell, GE Aerospace, Howden ČKD, etc.), in various positions, such as computer engineer, designer, team leader, technical director, R&D director, etc.
