Methodological Workshop I: Argumentation and Critical Thinking Launched a Series of Educational Activities within the CREATE Project

On Friday, 19 June 2026, Škoda Auto University hosted the first methodological workshop organised as part of the international project CREATE – Czech Resilience in Europe through Awareness, Training and Empowerment. A total of 15 teachers and education professionals involved in the project took part in the training.

The workshop was the first in a series of educational sessions designed to strengthen teachers’ competences in integrating European Union topics, civic education and critical thinking into their teaching. The CREATE project responds to the need to deepen knowledge of how the European Union works, promote active European citizenship, and provide teachers with modern methodological materials and interactive teaching approaches.

The workshop was led by Mgr. Dagmar Sieglová, MSEd., Ph.D., who introduced participants to methods for developing critical thinking and argumentation skills in the context of current European issues. The programme covered the European Union’s priorities, the three pillars of education, the three-phase learning model, and practical demonstrations of teaching methods through two model lessons.

The first lesson used the topic of adopting the euro to develop argumentation skills and critical thinking. The second focused on electromobility and energy sources, allowing participants to explore methods for working with information, verifying sources, and using visualisation techniques.

The workshop offered a range of practical methods and tools that teachers can apply in their classrooms while also providing an opportunity for the participating educators to share their experiences. The next methodological workshop is planned for August 2026.
