“Woche der Nachbarschaft,” a project of the SAU and the Technical University of Dresden

10.05.2023

From 24 to 28 April, the Skoda Auto University hosted the “Woche der Nachbarschaft” project, the first part of a programme organised in cooperation with the Technical University of Dresden that was co-financed by the Czech-German Fund for the Future.

The project’s first phase, which took place at the Skoda Auto University, included expert lectures and an interesting accompanying programme. Ing. David Holman, PhD, member of the Department of Production Management, Logistics and Quality, Skoda Auto University, delivered one of the expert lectures on SCM Innovations and Inventions in the Automotive Industry. Dr K. Kathy Meyer-Ross from the Technical University of Dresden spoke on Culture and Diversity.

“My lecture comparing innovation and invention in supply chain management in the automotive industry was attended by students from the Woche der Nachbarnschaft programme and the Erasmus subject Supply Chain Management. Afterwards, they explored virtual reality and 3D printing in the virtual laboratory of the Department of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, under the supervision of Ing. František Starý,” says Ing. David Holman, PhD.

In the afternoon, the programme continued with an excursion to Škoda Auto a.s. It was made possible only due to the significant support of the brand’s Logistics Department, namely Ms Mgr. Naďa Kuhnová, MBA. The students visited Hall M6, which is used for the production of PHEV and MEB batteries, supporting the electrification of production not only at ŠA but across the entire VW Group. They were guided by the Head of Plant Logistics for Components Production, Ms Ing. Petra Čanaky, MBA.

“As part of the accompanying programme, the students visited the production halls of Škoda Auto and the ŠKODA Museum, the capital city of Prague and Mladá Boleslav. The second part of the programme, hosted by the Technical University of Dresden, is scheduled to take place at the end of October 2023. I believe that our partners will certainly prepare an equally interesting programme; we are already looking forward to it,” summarised Mgr. Zuzana Havlisová, the SAU project coordinator, the colourful programme prepared for the SAU and TUD students.
