Basic information about the study

Are you interested in IT from a managerial perspective? Choose to study the Business Economics and Management Informatics programme at our school, which will allow you to penetrate the world of IT thoroughly enough to not only understand IT processes, but also to be able to manage them effectively.

Teaching is practical and uses case studies or IT simulations. You will learn about programming, algorithmization or business management, and you will learn how to lead projects and teams.

As a graduate, you will be employed in positions in companies focused on ICT, information systems, artificial intelligence or in other manufacturing or commercial companies as an IT specialist not only in the Czech Republic but also abroad.

The aim of the Bachelor’s study programme Business Informatics with a professional focus is to educate professionals capable of analytical, critical and ethical thinking. They will have a capacity to evaluate the impacts of ongoing processes in the market economy on the business sector and effectively use modern management methods and techniques, also in the area of processing information and information systems management, planning and efficient use. The programme is designed for students who are interested in understanding the workings of the modern business environment and management and economic aspects of building, managing and decision-making of businesses with a focus on business information systems and processing information and finding jobs in the business sector. The programme is based on combining theoretical and practical skills. Lecturers often use case studies or interactive management games or IT simulations and programmes to allow students to have an in-depth understanding of a given issue. Students gain practical managerial skills not only during their compulsory internships in domestic or foreign companies engaged in international trade, but also in terms of courses that include regular meetings with experts from the field.

The fifth semester includes a compulsory internship to increase the employment opportunities of graduates. Students most often choose Škoda Auto a.s. for their internships as well as other partner companies of Škoda Auto University or foreign companies, primarily within the Volkswagen Group, with the support of the Erasmus+ programme. Thanks to the Erasmus programme, students can also spend one or two semesters at one of more than 30 partner universities. Škoda Auto University also offers very interesting projects outside of Erasmus allowing students to choose from destinations such as China, India, South Korea or the USA for their foreign travels. Given the extended and comprehensive foundation of all Bachelor’s programmes, students will be ready to study other Master’s degree programmes offered by the school as well. The programme is designed for students with analytical thinking who would like to gain an insight into corporate processes on national and international level. Graduate profile

Graduates of Business Informatics possess not only deep theoretical knowledge of management and informatics, programming and business informatics management, but also practical skills and experience acquired during their studies, preparation of their thesis, and especially the compulsory internships. Students most often choose Škoda Auto a.s. for their internships as well as other partner companies of Škoda Auto University or foreign companies, primarily within the Volkswagen Group, with the support of the Erasmus+ programme.

Graduates of this programme possess skills and knowledge both in theoretical and applied sciences such as marketing, accounting, financial management, economics, law, management and two global languages. Graduates have a high level of communication and presentation skills combined with a technical focus, which differentiates the graduates from other universities that focus on informatics.

Graduate Employment

Graduates will find jobs in companies focused on ICT, information systems, artificial intelligence or in any other manufacturing or trade companies as IT specialists. Thanks to a strong emphasis on foreign languages, graduates of this programme can also find jobs in multinational companies.
