On 30th March, Škoda Auto Vysoká škola hosted a lecture by Member of the European Parliament Danuše Nerudová, who visited Mladá Boleslav at the invitation of Škoda Auto Vysoká škola and its partner organisations. The event was organised in cooperation with the CREATE project (Škoda Auto Vysoká škola) and the EPAS project (The Secondary school Horky nad Jizerou).

Danuše Nerudová was welcomed in the historic premises of the Na Karmeli Education Centre, in the Church of St. Bonaventure, by representatives of the management of Škoda Auto Vysoká škola: Martina Zimmerman, Bursar, and Petr Šulc, Vice‑Rector for Academic Affairs and Quality Management.

The lecture and the subsequent discussion were attended by students and teachers from secondary schools in the Central Bohemian Region, as well as students, academic staff, and employees of Škoda Auto Vysoká škola. In total, the event was attended by 240 participants.

The programme took the form of a moderated discussion, led by Pavel Neset, Head of the Department of Economics and Law. In his opening remarks, he emphasised:

“Our goal is to provide students with space for open discussion and to give them the opportunity to ask questions about topics that are crucial for their future.”

During the meeting, a wide range of topics of current interest to students was discussed, including:

  • the functioning of the European Parliament and European institutions,
  • education and its future challenges,
  • the Erasmus+ programme and opportunities for study abroad,
  • EU environmental and climate policy,
  • other current social issues.

Students had the opportunity to ask their own questions, which made the discussion highly dynamic and interactive.

The project Czech Resilience in Europe through Awareness, Training and Empowerment (CREATE), co‑funded by the European Union, focuses on strengthening knowledge and competences related to European Union topics and on promoting active European citizenship. Its aim is to systematically integrate EU values and principles into the educational processes of secondary schools.
